Developer Salaries in the Lebanese Market: Insights and Findings
I often receive questions in my DMs about the salaries of different programming specializations. However, I don’t have detailed information about all salary ranges since they vary significantly depending on specialization and the technologies an individual uses.
So, I decided to crowd-source the info to fill this gap. I posted surveys on LinkedIn and Instagram for people to contribute their input.
Thankfully, more than 80 individuals responded to the survey, allowing me to gather useful insights that I’m now sharing here.
Why This Data Matters?
Both professionals and companies can benefit from this data:
- Job Seekers can understand the "expected salaries" in the market.
- Companies can set more realistic salary ranges based on market standards.
Demographics
Here is a breakdown of the developers who participated in the survey:
73% from Beirut | 10% from Bekaa | 6% from the South Governorate | 5% from Saida | 6% from Tripoli
Salary Statistics
Salary Statistics (USD):
- Average salary: $1332.76
- Median salary: $1050.00
- Salary range: $400 - $5250
Although the average value is intriguing, the median provides a more accurate picture since a few highly paid managers skewed the data upwards.
How Does Experience Impact Salaries?
Here’s the distribution of participants based on their years of experience (YoE):
The graph shows the distributions of salaries based on number of years of experience, we do have a positive correlation but this doesn’t mean that time is the determiner of your salary… which can be seen very well in the salary variations between years 0 and 3
Some individuals gain experience in one year equivalent to others' three years.
Salary Distribution by Job Title

Key Observations
Software Engineers earn the highest salaries, reflecting their critical role in driving technological innovation. Data Engineers and Data Analysts earn competitive salaries, indicating demand for data-focused roles. Roles like Full Stack Developers, QA specialists, and IT (others) fall on the lower end, possibly due to undervaluation or lower market demand.
Salary Distribution by Programming Language
Java developers command the highest median salary, likely due to demand for enterprise-level applications.
Developers skilled in Python and TypeScript earn competitive salaries, highlighting their relevance in web development, data science, and scalable systems.
My Humble Analysis
The software engineering profession is still in high demand, regardless of the language and framework you are using, the engineering concepts will be needed. Do not restrict yourself into learning a programming language and expect getting paid for you just knowing the language (chatGPT already knows all the languages), you should expect to be paid based on your problem solving skills; the programming language is just a tool you use while solve the company’s problems.
🚨 Disclaimer: Since the survey was conducted anonymously and to protect the privacy of individuals who participated, the raw data will not be shared. Only aggregated insights and statistics are presented in this analysis.
Finally
The survey will remain open to deduct further insights throughout the year, if you would like to contribute, then please fill the survey and share it with others :)
